The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish Embassy in Albania have selected The Headhunter to implement the “People First: Enhancing Tourism through Qualified Human Resources” Project, a “People First” approach focused on human resources to stimulate the growth of jobs and employment in the Albanian tourism sector.

People First will promote employment growth by training and hiring employees with the knowledge required by various businesses in the tourism industry throughout Albania. The project will create partnerships between potential employees, Vocational Training Centers and businesses, as well as create pathways for prospective employees – especially young people and women – to gain insights and join the workforce. This project will focus on five tourist sites in Albania: Tirana, the Southern Riviera, the Durres-Kavaja corridor, the Albanian Shkodra / Alps and the Korça Region, including Lake Ohrid, Pogradec and Voskopoja.

In the next five years, the United States and Sweden will invest $ 6 million to promote job creation and economic growth in the Albanian tourism sector.

-Training

Training of People First project is a theoretical phase that will last 6 weeks and will take place at Vocational Training Centers in Tirana, Durres, Vlora, Korça and Shkodra. It will provide the participants with the necessary knowledge in 8 profiles so that they will be ready to immediately apply their knowledge during the one-month internship, where they will be paid by the project.

-Practical

The practice of knowledge gained in the 8 occupations in the field of hotel and tourism will be conducted in the best hotels and restaurants of the Albanian tourist sites, from the Southern Ionian Riviera to the Northern Alps in the district of Shkodra. The Headhunter has partnership agreements to this end with the most successful businesses operating in the sector.

-Employment

The two thousand trainees and trainees involved during the two years of the project aim to employ everyone in the tourism sector, precisely in the hotels, resorts and restaurants where they will complete the internship. This is a desire and will shown by the businesses themselves, who are “hungry” for qualified human resources, so the employment opportunity, thanks to the agreements we have with the businesses in question, is extremely high.
